San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Join us as we discuss Dickens’s last completed novel, Our Mutual Friend, one of the most complexly plotted of his works. It begins with the drowning of the heir to a fortune and takes a panoramic look at English society. From the glamour of the social-climbing Veneering’s fancy dinner parties to the grit of dust heaps and the overarching theme of the river, the novel represents some of Dickens’s most biting social commentary.
