The Industry Workshops presents: Develop and Pitch Unscripted TV

Unscripted TV is where the jobs are. Do you have an idea for the next great reality television mega-hit? Great! But before you pitch, know that ideas alone are not enough.

There are 3.8 million people in Los Angeles. Most of them have an idea for a television show, which is why most studios and networks do not accept unsolicited materials. That said, there are literally thousands of channels that need programming. Development executives need your fresh, inventive show ideas, so how do you reach them? What unscripted content are networks buying? What are their target demos? This workshop will delve into the proper terms to use when pitching as well preferred ways to present written materials and footage to industry professionals.  You’ll learn how to develop your idea into a full, desirable concept and how to be that person that execs want to continue to work with.

Requirements: something to take notes

By the end of this workshop, you will know:
  1. Five steps to develop shows without going broke.
  2. Essential traits that networks look for when casting characters and worlds for reality TV
  3. What shows not to pitch.
  4. What materials are essential when pitching and what should they look like? (i.e. one-sheets, decks, sizzle reels)
  5. Key elements that will make your pitch stand out and make YOU a valuable entity to the project.

During this class, we will spend some time watching sizzle reels and character development reels for shows that have both sold along with ones that have not.

***If you have a sizzle reel, character development reel,  or development package you can bring it for a chance to have it discussed in a group setting.***
