Join us at the Atlassian Dev Den Tech Talks, featuring Xavier Shay, Engineering Manager of Square.

 

Xavier will be speaking about the recent work Square has been doing to secure Rubygems against malicious activity using The Update Framework (TUF). He will include an introduction to TUF and how it defends against the myriad different attacks against packaging systems, how it applies to Rubygems, and then some practical implementation details and a proof-of-concept.

Xavier is an Engineering Manager at Square, based in San Francisco.  He is an RSpec and Bundler core team member, and has over fifty published repositories on GitHub. He has been working professionally with Ruby since 2006.
