What are the most pressing issues in Germany today? Recently, topics such as national security and current events in Ukraine have been grabbing the headlines. What are the current issues, and how does Germany address them in terms of foreign policy?
Karlfried Bergner has been in his position at the German Embassy Washington since July 2013. Prior to that, he headed the Southern European Division of the Foreign Office from 2008-2013, the Political Department at the German Embassy Madrid from 2006-2008, and held various other positions at the German embassies in Nigeria, Panama and London. He has a degree in law and business administration.
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? All who wish to hear and speak German are invited to bring their lunch to our monthly presentation and discussion. A topic of interest from German culture, history, or contemporary affairs will be presented, in German, by a selected speaker. Discussion on the topic will complete the Mittagstisch.
