Donation to the Academy
Musically Minded Academy is a non-profit organization. We provide these monthly professional concerts to the community at a financial loss. Why--because we feel that they are important and we want to support local musicians. We do need financial assistance to support this cause. Please consider a donation to help cover our concert production costs which are about $300-$500 per concert.

DESTINY MUHAMMAD: 'On The Corner of Wess & Ashby:

A Tribute to Jazz Masters Frank Wess & Dorothy Ashby'

Jazz Harpist Destiny Muhammad is performing as Musically Minded Academy's main SUMMER CONCERT attraction in 2014.

Destiny has been wowing audiences with her unique blend of 'Celtic-to-Coltrane' sound for years, and this concert will be no less than another treat for all.

"When one contemplates the great musicians of Jazz a list of harpists do not immediately come to mind, but that is destined to change with Sound Sculptress, Destiny Muhammad." Johnathon Bakan, SF Asian Music Examiner

In this concert event, Destiny will be paying homage to two American jazz legends: Saxophonist & Flautist, Frank Wess, and Harpist Dorothy Ashby.

Musicians for this concert include:

Leon Joyce, Jr.  DRUMS

Ken Noriyuki Okada  BASS

Melvin Butts  FLUTE

This concert will be recorded LIVE and is part of   'The Destiny Muhammad Jazz Project' which has established Destiny's position as one of the true 'artists' in the community of jazz musicians in our time.
