Destination Fridays -- Come to the Mardi Gras

Broward County Library is hosting Destination Fridays events at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. On Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. come to the Mardi Gras, the first of six scheduled destination events. This is an after-hours, age 21-plus event with tickets for $10 each. Tickets can be ordered below or purchased at the door.
The venue is the library's expansive lobby where there will be a jazz band, dancing, complimentary "Hurricane" cocktails and Cajun food (while supplies last), costumes, prizes, a fortune teller, and travel discounts to New Orleans. Guests are invited to wear Mardi Gras colors of gold, green or purple.
This delectable event is sponsored by the Friends of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center and the Friends of the Imperial Point Library--along with 2 Guys Caterers, Croissan’Time, Post Haste Travel, April’s Psychic Readings, PRP Wine International, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Fun Generation, Broward College Jazz Ensemble, Shuck ‘N Dive Cajun Café and the New Orleans Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) is an award winning 60,000 square foot facility that includes a 300-seat auditorium, seminar and conference rooms, and exhibit areas. Upstairs is a youth services area, a special collections area and a neighborhood library with a computer lab.
