Electronics as we know them are changing. The open hardware movement has made it easier to create hardware, while 3D printing and crowdfunding have streamlined the prototyping and financing process. Independent brands like Beats and Jawbone have grown to mainstream powerhouses overnight, and we are all wondering what Google glass will actually feel like.
This talk will explore the new world of creative technology (consumer electronics is starting to feel like a dated term), where small companies create products that have global potential. A world where on-demand production and software play a key roles in the future of our favorite devices.
Amanda Peyton is a co-founder of Grand St., a new community and market for interesting consumer technology. Grand St. sells new devices that are delightful and improve your life. Peyton and her co-founders are lifelong tinkerers who love to explore, discover, and build technology products. She currently lives in New York City and is a graduate of MIT Sloan and Y Combinator.
