This seminar is part of a year long Evolution of Regulation series. In this series, economists, lawyers, businesspeople and policymakers will reflect on the evolution of regulation with an eye toward what policy changes to regulation are possible to improve economic outcomes.  The Series began in June 2011 with a conference at the Georgetown Law Center, keynoted by the White House’s head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein and included discussions by a number of prominent economists, lawyers and high-level policymakers.  The year-long series, which will include both conferences and seminars, will include industry-specific discussions in such areas as telecommunications, electricity, international trade, health care and consumer protection.  The series will culminate with a conference co-sponsored by the World Bank in the fall of 2012 that will focus on the impact of regulatory reforms that have been adopted around the world.
