Information on Alzheimer’s disease, its causes, and possible treatments seems to change daily. While the focus of current research and clinical drug trials is to find that elusive cure or treatment that will halt disease progression or manage the difficult symptoms associated with dementia, most of us simply struggle to weed out fact from fiction in an effort to stay current with our options and knowledge.
Dr. Donald Marks will highlight for us how researchers have come to view Alzheimer’s disease differently and how this shift in perspective is leading to new advances in the treatment of dementia. Marcy JT Smith brings her expertise in the field stress related disorders to help us understand the common neurobiologic changes that occur with stress and how this effects individuals with dementia. Both topics will provide us with insights into innovative new ways of thinking about the ever-changing and fascinating field of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
