Delaware Bus to the Largest Climate Rally EVER!
Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM (PST)
On Sunday, February 17, thousands of Americans will head to Washington, D.C. to make Forward on Climate the largest climate rally in history. Join this historic event to make your voice heard and help the President start his second term with bold climate action.
We’re bringing TWO 55 passenger buses down from Newark, Delaware to DC on February 17! One bus we already have completely filled and the other has about 20 seats left. We would so love for you to join us, that the second bus will be totally FREE to riders!
We are able to do cover the cost of the bus with some grant money we won from the National Sierra Club that can be spent only on the rally. If you would like to make an optional donation toward the other conservation work of our chapter that will be accepted, but not solicited.
If you get lost, are running late or have any questions, call Stephanie at 302-468-4550. See you on Sunday!!
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
There are no age limits or ID requirements to participate in the rally or join our bus to DC.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There will be plenty of parking at the Christian Mall park and ride where you can leave your car for the day. Carpooling with friends/neighbors to the bus pick-up is encouraged in order to keep our carbon footprint for the day low!
What can/can't I bring to the event?
You are welcome and encouraged to bring:
-SIGNS. Try making your own sign(s) saying "Delaware for Climate Justice", "Delawareans for a tar sands free North East"; "Tar sands are toxic" "Idle no more Delaware"; "Delawareans for a stable climate" or think of your own clever phrase! President Obama, our 'target audience', also has some great quotes from past statements on fossil fuels and climate change. For example, "Let's be the generation that finally frees America from the tyranny of oil", "We will respond to the threat of Climate change, knowing that failure to do so would betray our children and future generations" etc.
-SNACKS. The march and rally will be tons of fun and are sure to leave you with memories to last a lifetime. If you would not like those memories to include how stinking hungry you were all afternoon you are strongly encouraged to bring snacks. Some suggestions are: PB&J or other sandwiches, trail mix, granola bar, pretzels and/or fruit and don't forget your filled reuseable water bottle!
-LAYERS. We all know how totally unpredictable the weather can be these days, especially in mid-February. The rally and march will go on rain or shine because this is just too important to postpone. Please wear layers and watch the weather in the days before the rally so you can dress accordlingly. Don't forget to wear COMFORTABLE SHOES!
-SUNSCREEN. Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can't get sunburned!
Please DO NOT bring:
Drugs or any type of weapons.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
With any questions please contact Stephanie Herron at email@example.com or 302-468-4550.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
You are welcome to "transfer", give or sell your ticket to someone else to use in the event you cannot make it or if you're buying for a friend. PLEASE simply EMAIL Stephanie.Herron@Sierraclub.org if this happens so we can update our RSVP list and are not waiting for you on the morning of 2/17.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
As long as you are the purchaser of your ticket you will not need to bring a printed copy. If you are not the purchaser, just email Stephanie with your name and contact info to be added to the list and you do not need a printed ticket.
What is the refund policy?
Unfortunately because we have to pay for your seat on the bus whether or not your in it we will not be able to refund ticket sales. You are welcome to "transfer"-give or sell your ticket to someone else to use in the event you cannot make it. PLEASE EMAIL Stephanie.Herron@Sierraclub.org if this happens so we can update our RSVP list and are not waiting for you on the morning of 2/17.
