Dee Lucas & Tony Exum, Jr. Performs 'Just For Art & George' A Musical Tribute to Late Saxophonists Art Porter and George Howard - Birmingham, AL
Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8:00 PM (EST)
National Recording Artists & Contemporary Jazz Saxophonists Dee Lucas (Atlanta) and Tony Exum, Jr. (Denver) have teamed up to bring the highly anticipated 'Just For Art & George' show to Birmingham.
'Just For Art & George' is a musical tribute to late contemporary jazz saxmen Art Porter and George Howard. Both were considered by many pioneers of what we call 'Smooth' Jazz. George Howard's music spanned from the 80's thru the 90's with 16 CDs and several Top 10 hits on the jazz charts. He passed away in 1998 due to complications of colon cancer and lymphoma. Art Porter was a fast rising artist in the 90's that was worth noticing. Four CDs later and several songs topping the charts, he suddenly passed away in 1996 due to a boating accident in near Thailand.
The tribute will be celebrated by two rising and respectable saxophonists in their own right. Denver-based Tony Exum, Jr. and Atlanta-based Dee Lucas humbly takes time away from their own recordings to musically reflect on the late but great saxmen who have left indelible marks on musical stylings.
