Event Details

“If you love the Beatles, this will take you into a whole new realm of understanding. Mixing anecdote, history, archival footage, rare audio, harmonic and lyrical analysis and a deep love of the subject, Scott's talk on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is unparalleled in depth and insight.”

“I was transported back into the recording session with the Beatles. With the way Scott presented, I really felt like I was there.”

The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is one of the most influential albums of our time. In the history of popular music, there is “Before Sgt. Pepper” and “After Sgt. Pepper.” Rolling Stone described it as “the most important rock & roll album ever made, an unsurpassed adventure in concept, sound, songwriting, cover art and studio technology by the greatest rock & roll group of all time.”

In Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper, composer, musician, and Beatles expert Scott Freiman looks at Sgt. Pepper from multiple angles, exploring the history behind the music. Using rare and unreleased recordings, Mr. Freiman walks the audience through the construction of songs from take one to the final version. You are guaranteed to leave amazed at the Beatles' innovation in the studio and have a newfound appreciation for the writing of Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison and even the drumming of Ringo Starr!

Some of the highlights of the lecture include the following:
Listening to the song “Strawberry Fields Forever” (originally intended for the Sgt. Pepper album) evolve from John Lennon?s home demos to the final recording.
Learning about the experimental studio techniques used to create the groundbreaking “A Day In The Life”.
Hearing the beautiful string arrangement for “She's Leaving Home” -- the one that George Martin didn't write -- as well as Lennon and McCartney's unadorned harmonies.

Musicians and non-musicians, Beatles fanatics and casual fans will all enjoy Scott Freiman's presentation. Join Scott Freiman for Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper, and you'll never listen to the Beatles or any other music the same way again.

The Picture House

Several years ago a group of concerned citizens in lower Westchester organized to save the 1920s Pelham Picture House, now listed on the NY State Register of Historic Places, from the wrecking ball. The Picture House, recently restored and renovated, is now an independent film and education center. The Picture House entertains audiences with great movies – indies, foreign films, classics, shorts, animated films and documentaries from around the world. By inviting, actors, directors, producers, screen writers, and film critics to discuss their work, we bring the back lot to our front door.
