Artisan's Asylum is ready for its first month of membership! We've spent a good amount of time getting our facilities built-out (through our Building the Asylum class and volunteer efforts), our tools refurbished, and our policies in place, and now it's time for our first month of membership.
This membership at Artisan's Asylum grants people access to the shop space and tools once they have demonstrated competence in the machinery they would like to use. Access will be granted during posted hours, and use of tools will be subject to not interfering with classes that will be in session on given nights.
All members will be required to sign a code of conduct and a waiver before using any tools in the space. Members will have to pass a basic written safety test and demonstrate competent use of each tool they would like to use on an on-going basis.
A joining fee of $25 is required of all new members. This covers a basic introduction to the space, an introduction to space policies, a safety demonstration of the proper use of our basic tools, and giving the tests for our basic tools. This is a one-time fee per member.
