Event Details

The future of test engineering will predominantly include testers that can help debug issues. Developers will require more details in bug reports besides "the page loads slowly" or "I clicked the button and nothing happened". Steps to reproduce bugs are helpful but giving a distinct error log is ultimately more valuable.

Luckily, many bugs can easily be debugged or at least narrowed down using open-source tools like Firebug and Webkit's Developer Tools (Chrome and Safari use the Webkit engine). Both of these tools have similar functionality with a few minor differences. They offer insights to network activity, navigating the DOM, profiling, a javascript console and even the ability to modify the DOM in real-time!

If a few people can bring a laptop to this meetup, I'll see if I can create an interactive component after an initial presentation and walk-through of the tools.

Unless I can get someone willing to man a video camera, we will not stream this meetup online.
