Debra Whiting was a visionary chef in the Finger Lakes wine growing region. Her passion was not just the food as it appearedon the plate, but the food as it grew on local farms, supported local farmers and communities, and offered a wholesome and rewarding lifestyle to an entire region. 

During the 12 years that Debra led the culinary team at Red Newt Bistro, she was a leader in the development of farm to table relationships that blossomed with the development of the burgeoning wine industry of the Finger Lakes. 

With her life tragically cut short on June 30th, 2011, the Debra Whiting Foundation has been formed to carry on Debra's vision and commitment to wine, food, farms, families and community.  For the latest news on organization status and development of programs, sign up for our mailing list.

 6:30 Wine & Hors D'Oeuvres - 7:00 Dinner

The Debra Whiting Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that has been formed to carry on Debra's vision and commitment to wine, food, farms, families and community.  To kick off the Debra Whiting Foundation programming, Red Newt Cellars Winery & Bistro will host an elegant dinner on December 2nd, 2011 with live music from Rebecca Colleen & the Chore Lads.  The theme of this dinner, "five times swine", is a tribute to some of the foods and wines that Debra most enjoyed, with a pork theme running from start to finish.  (vegetarian options available)
