Come out for the DC Tri Club Nation's Tri Brick, Family Picnic and Kayaking. Let’s call it a Brickayak-Nic. Bring your families and friends to the 'Nic at the Key Bridge Boathouse!
When: Saturday, August 16, 2014. Brick at 7:30 am; Family Picnic at 9:30 am.
Where: Key Bridge Boathouse, 3500 Water Street NW, Washington, DC. For details, visit http://boatingindc.com/key-bridge-boathouse
Brick: Ride Clip-in at 7:30 am
Gear watch will begin at 7 am. The Saturday weekly training ride will roll through the boathouse. Follow the normal Saturday ride route and do whatever distance you desire. For details on the route, visit the Sat weekly ride forum thread on the club website.
Alternatively, for those that want a more casual ride, the suggested route is the Capitol Cresent/Beach Dr/Rock Creek Trail loop. Click here for the 19.3 mile loop map. NOTE: This loop takes you off the crushed gravel of the Georgetown Branch Trail. See the Capital Crescent Trail website for more info.
As always, helmets and a flat repair kit are REQUIRED. SAG will not be provided.
Feel free to run right after the ride, instead of the ride or anytime you wish. The run will be an out-and-back of your desired distance on the Capital Crescent Trail (paved) or the C&O Towpath (unpaved).
Family Style Potluck Brunch Picnic and Kayaking: 9:30 am-12:30 pm
This will be a family style event! Come out, do a little biking, a little running, some kayaking and a whole lot of fun socializing with other DC Tri Club members and their families. Don’t forget to bring the kids!
The BrickNic will be at Key Bridge Boathouse, right on the Potomac. The park is under the Key Bridge and right at the start of the Capital Crescent Trail for a family ride or run. Kayaks/SUPS/Canoes will be made available by the boathouse starting at 8:00 am. KBBH is hooking us up with a 10% discount to use the kayaks/SUP/Canoes. You’ll rent directly from the boathouse. Boating related question? Check here.
This event will be a great chance for those of you racing Nation’s Tri for the first time to get some advice from those who have raced it in the past. Nation's staff will also be available to answer questions.
With the early start for the picnic, we’re going to make this one a BRUNCH picnic for all you breakfast lovers out there. Subs, deli meats, cheeses and such will be provided by the club. The rest (breakfast items, sides, desserts, drinks) is up to you!
