Older adults are the fastest growing population in the United States, and approximately one out of every five older Americans are the victims of financial fraud and abuse. This is a serious problem that negatively impacts the lives of millions of older adults.
The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) and WFYI Productions have teamed up, with generous support from The Atlantic Philanthropies, to produce a hard-hitting and informative documentary on the impact of financial exploitation of older adults. The film is called Fleeced: Speaking Out Against Senior Financial Abuse.
You’re invited to join NCRC and The Atlantic Philanthropies for the national premier of Fleeced on October 28, 2013 at 3:30 pm at The Pew Charitable Trust (901 E Street NW, Washington, DC). Come hear the stories of older adults and their families who were victimized by different types of scams and abusive financial products. In Fleeced, we see these individuals and their families transform from victims to advocates speaking out on behalf of others.
Join us for the first public screening of this timely and important film. Hear from Kim Jacobs, the producer of Fleeced, and Anita Gardner, a participant in NCRC’s National Neighbor Silver program who is featured in the film. A reception will follow the screening.
