The DC Community Heritage Project grant workshop will provide prospective applicants with the tools they need to write competitive proposals for the DCCHP grant. The program lasts about an hour and includes an opportunity for participants to discuss their project ideas, and a guided tour of the application process.
The DCCHP is a partnership between the Humanities DC and the DC Historic Preservation Office. It is designed to provide funding and support to community leaders interested in preserving the history, architecture, and collective memory of their neighborhoods.
The DCCHP is local history at a grassroots level, placing control of the narrative in the hands of those who create it. The deadline for these grants is May 8, 2015, and the grant period is June 15 - October 15.
Past grantees have produced documentary films, oral history projects, digital archives, walking tours, and many other types of educational materials. These materials are available to the public in the DCCHP collection of the DC Digital Museum.
