Event Details

Last July a diverse group of adult education providers and supporters from all parts of the District gathered at Busboys and Poets to join forces in promoting more effective adult education in DC.

The first collective effort of the group was to promote the 2013 Adult Education and Family Literacy Week in DC (September), an effort that led to an exciting opening celebration downtown and a very successful adult education advocacy day at the Wilson Building.

Another shared goal for the large group was to develop ways for the adult education community to share best practices.  To that end, we are convening our first-ever DC Adult Education Best Practices committee meeting from 9-11 AM on November 22!

This committee will focus on sharing best practices from accross the region in assessment, teaching, curriculum development, management, and more.  At this inaugural meeting, we will work to define our vision for the committee.  We will also share some lessons learned at the 2013 US Conference on Adult Literacy and do some preliminary sharing of how some area programs are preparing for the GED 2014 transition.
