Introduction to Mobile App Development on Google Android

 

Instructor:

Donald Charity is a professional Android developer, current contracting for Sprint/Nextel building Android applications and testing tools . He has a masters degree in Computer Science as well as experience programming various mobile OS systems such as Danger Hiptop and Android. He has developed multiple applications for the Hiptop and Android OS.

 

Prerequsites:

Basic programming experience, knowledge of object oriented programming techniques, JAVA, XML, IDE

This course seeks to teach participants all the basic skills as well as understanding of the tools to develop basic applications on Android powered devices and products. The course will touch on the necessary languages (JAVA/XML), resource files and APIs involved in building these applications.

 

Syllabus:

  • Languages – JAVA/XML
  • Eclipse IDE
  • Android SDK
  • Simulator
  • On Device Development

 

Course goals:

Ability to develop a basic Android applications. Students would have produced two to three basic apps by the end of this course.

 

 

Intermediate Mobile App Development on Google Android

 

Instructor:

Prerequsites:

Attendance of the Basic course or knowledge and experience with the basic Android development

This course builds on the basic course in order to cover more advanced topics. Attendees will have developed multiple apps demonstrating sophisticate use of the available APIs . Additionally the instructor will cover a number of issues in mobile development including debugging of code.

 

Syllabus:

  • On Device Development
  • XML UI development, properties and manifest permissions
  • Event Handling
  • Resource Handling
  • Testing
  • Production and releasing apps for the Android Market

 

Course goals:

To develop sophisticated Mobile Applications on Android powered devices.
