Day of Peace

February 8, 2014 9am-12pm

Join Project Peace at our Day of Peace, Saturday, February 8th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Berkeley Site:

Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (B.O.S.S.): B.O.S.S. provides comprehensive services that help homeless families and individuals move from homelessness to homes with improved skills and knowledge of resources so they can stay healthy and housed.Volunteers will help with clean up projects lead by the staff at B.O.S.S. Space limited to 20. MAP

Oakland Sites:

Claremont Middle School: Volunteer swill assist PTA and staff both inside and out with general maintence, clean up, and working in the garden. Space limited to 75. MAP

Emerson Elementary School: Emerson is an underserved school in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. Volunteers will assist PTA and staff with gardening, cleaning, and general facilites maintence. Space limited to 25. MAP

Garfield Elementary School: Garfield is an underserved school in the San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland. Volunteers will assist the staff and community leaders inside and out with various facilities projects including leveling books. Space limited to 25. MAP

Harbor House: A multi-ethnic, Christian non-profit organization working to create positive, systemic change for individuals and our community. Volunteers will help with general facilities clean up and sorting clothes. Space limited to 20. MAP

Castro Valley Site:

Marshall Elementary School: Volunteers will assist staff with general campus clean up and other projects. Space limited to 25. MAP

Notes:

  • Coffee and bagels will be provided at all sites on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to wear work clothes and comfortable shoes. Bring your own water.
  • Sites have limited volunteer opportunities. Please, register in advance so that you (and your friends) can be sure to serve at the site that most interests you.
  • As always, there will be no childcare, but supervised children are welcome at most sites.
  • Project Peace/Day of Peace T-Shirts are for sale for $15.
