David Pless will start the discussion on some of the engine changes to SQL Server 2012. David will be talking about leveraging SQLDIAG with the Perf Stats Script and customizing PAL for analyzing perfmon logs. SQLDIAG similar to PSSDIAG is a built-in SQL Server tool that allows you to create a custom server side trace. We will cover how to edit the trace file templates and adding the Perf Stats script to get additional information when baselining and troubleshooting SQL Server performance. We will cover what you can learn from the output and the next steps that can be taken when troubleshooting SQL Server. The PAL tool developed by Clint Huffman, has been a strong tool used to analyze SQL Server perfmon performance. We will cover how to modify the existing templates and the new SQL Server 2008 R2 threshold files. Additionally, David will cover how this information can be aligned with wait statistics and some additional data from dynamic management views.
Please plan on joining us at Courtside Grill afterwards for the meeting after the meeting.
