The UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies invites you to a special presentation by David Kirp, one of today’s foremost thinkers in education. He is the James D. Marver Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. His work is regularly featured in the media, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and The Huffington Post. After the 2008 election, he served on President Obama’s Transition Team.
In this special presentation Dr. Kirp will discuss his highly anticipated upcoming book, Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America’s Schools (Oxford University Press), followed by a panel discussion with Dean Marcelo Suárez-Orozco and professor of education Patricia Gándara.
