Lustig, nationally renowned in neuroendocrinology, is exploring the role of sugar as a specific mediator of chronic disease, including obesity in children and adults. His work has led to article appearances in The New York Times and Nature, and a lecture that went viral on YouTube, “Sugar: The Bitter Truth,” which has to date received more than 2.5 million viewings. In April 2012, Lustig appeared on 60 Minutes with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta to discuss the role of sugar in weight gain, conditions such as heart disease and cancer, and general overall health.
