Reservations are required in order to attend a new student orientation. As a reminder, COMPASS Placement tests must be completed at least a week before the orientation date. Please be sure to contact the Welcome Center at (773) 838-7989 for more information.

As a new student, we want to do all we can to help get you started on your path to success.                    

During the orientation you can expect to:                         

• Register for your first semester courses!
• Learn about academic requirements needed to graduate!
• Learn about the many student services that are available to help you succeed!
• Discuss education and career goals!
• Learn about student clubs, groups and organizations!
• Meet other new students and make new friends!


PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW NEW STUDENT CHECKLIST TO ENSURE ALL STEPS ARE COMPLETED PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED ORIENTATION

New Student Pre-Orientation Checklist

[ ] File the FAFSA

  • If applying for financial aid complete the 2015-2016 FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible. Daley’s school code is 001649.

[ ] Submit or send in ACT scores, final high school, and/or college transcripts to the Admissions & Records office in room 1408.

[ ] Take your placement tests or submit sufficient ACT scores/transfer credit

  • Review the COMPASS test information inside your new student guidebook. Tests MUST be completed a week before your orientation date! Remember to bring a photo ID and your testing acknowledgement sheet.
  • FREE COMPASS prep workshops are offered on a consistent basis throughout the year and take place on the 1st Saturday of the month (with the exception holidays) at both Richard J. Daley (Building 200) and Arturo Velasquez Institute (Room 2215) from 9am-12pm.  In this workshop, students will learn test taking strategies to prepare them for the E-Write, Reading and Math COMPASS exam(s). Registration is required.  You may register via one of the following:
