Tuesday evening, October 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Calling all rule-breakers, improvisers, and pants-seat-flyers, (or those who just want to act this way for a while)...
Join wife and husband team Sue Westmoreland and Tom Carlson for a playful, collaborative, mini-quilt-making process with a twist!
Sewists of all skill levels are invited to spend the first session hand and machine-stitching with intuitive imperfection (no second-guessing allowed). Sue and Tom will share the story of how the idea for these quilts came to be and how they collaborate to bring these pieces to life in their home. The night will end with a temporary quilt swap and a surprise homework instruction involving the quilt you'll be taking home! (Don't fret! It won't take long!)
We'll return the following week to see how each quilt has evolved through the course of collaboration and to view the fabulous and growing mini-quilt collection of Tom and Sue. At the end of the morning, quilts will be returned to their original creators, traded amongst participants (if you'd like), or displayed locally if such opportunity presents itself.
Bring your scraps, thread stash, sense of adventure, and beverage of choice (adult or otherwise). Your internal voice of judgement is welcome to stay at home and watch Martha Stewart re-runs. Bring your own machine or sign up early to reserve one of four shop machines.
All proceeds from this series will go to support the Literacy Mid-South.
