More about the mission:

Hi! I'm Jen. I'm an artist with a servant's heart.
I want to share my two greatest loves; JESUS & ART, with the people of Africa. Kenya is hungry, both SPIRITUALLY & PHYSICALLY.

I'll be living in Nairobi, Kenya for over 4 weeks, working in Kibera, the largest slum in East Africa. This will be my 1st mission trip and very 1st flight (ever!)

With your help, I'm planning to leave early this June. As excited as I am to GO to Africa, I'm equally as excited to COME HOME and share my journey with my community and the listeners of WITW93.5lpfm, where I co-host a morning show.
I hope my experiences will inspire others to find the courage to answer the call of servanthood..wherever it may lead!

Donations collected will be used to pay for my flight and living expenses while there.
(Who knew flying was so expensive?! Not this girl, since it will be my first time in a plane!)
Any additional funds will be used to support the artisans that I'll be working with in Kenya.

I'm eager to use my skills as an artist/designer to aid in developing new products and enhancing existing ones. Leading devotions with the artisans will also be one of my top priorities. As an artist, my heart goes out to the people of Africa that have great talent but little opportunity to sell their wares. As a Christian, my heart is broken for the great needs of the people of Africa. I believe we're called to stand in that gap- in whatever way possible. I'm looking forward to being an encouragement to the people of Kibera, and expect they're going to have more of an impact on ME than I could ever hope to have on THEM.

Grain of Rice Project is the organization that I'll be volunteering with. They're mission is to empower people with the love of Christ, helping them become self-sufficient through the creation and sale of their handcrafted products. Because they're a young, non-profit that's run solely by volunteers, they have very little overhead and can maximize the amount of support given back to the community.
