To assess whether and to what degree our students achieve the learning outcomes we set for them in the course, we need a broader range of assessment tools that include informal checks, observations, quizzes, academic prompts, and performance tasks. These cover the three types of assessment: Diagnostic, formative, and summative. We will look at examples of each of these and discuss how to best integrate them into our daily class routines.
