Have I got your attention now?
Great!, now lets talk about what you need to do in order to get your hands on all that Moola and get your idea LAUNCHED!
But first let's talk about what a business plan is and why CSULA is choosing to do a FastPitch.
A business plan attempts to reduce the uncertainties surrounding the decisions needed to launch a business. It can be thought of as a blueprint or a roadmap. A business plan helps you determine if the business has a market, can make a profit and can produce the money you need. For our FastPitch event, you will have to complete a ONE PAGE business plan (Example) and email it to Rob Carpenter (email@example.com) by May 12th, 2013 by 5:00PM.
Why a FastPitch?
Traditional business plans, although extremely important, take a very long time to research and write. They are also probably outdated by the time you actually launch your startup. So we decided to skip this part and focus only on the bare essentials needed to get your great idea off the ground: the OPPORTUNITY you're addressing, the PROBLEM you're solving, your proposed SOLUTION, your COMPETITORS, your BUSINESS MODEL, the potential MARKET SIZE you're entering and your idea's POTENTIAL for major success.
That's right. We're focusing just on your idea's POTENTIAL!
How it Works
As a FastPitch participant you'll be required to do the following:
A) Register for competition on this eventbrite page (as a participant) by May 1st B) Submit electronic copy of business plan in Microsoft Word format by Sunday, May 12th C) Craft a 90 second pitch (no slides required) to be given in front of a panel of judges on stage D) Be prepared to answer any questions that the panel of judges might have for you and your idea
