Then, stop to explore Burnt Island and its lighthouse and meet Keeper Joseph Muise and his family who will acquaint you with lighthouse living as it was in the 1950's.
While on the island you can visit the keeper's home and climb the spiral staircase into the lantern room to enjoy spectacular views of Boothbay Harbor, or take a picturesque hike around the 5-acre island.
This cruise is five hours long and includes a stop on Burnt Island. Due to variations in tides and currents, return times may vary by as much as an hour.The Schoodic's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic including beer and wine for personal consumption. Coolers are not allowed on the boat.
Tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of a weather cancellation. The Schoodic is a covered boat and usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. Cruises may be cancelled in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions or unmet minimum ticket sales, and cancellations are made by the Captain on the day of the cruise. If the Museum cancels a cruise, you will have the opportunity to reschedule, or receive a refund.
The temperature on the water can vary throughout the day. Please come prepared with extra layers. Access to the boat requires negotiating a ramp down to the float, and then boarding steps into the boat. We are not able to accommodate wheelchairs.
The experience of Maine from the water is like no other and the Kennebec River delights one and all! Your ticket price includes Museum admission for two days-come early or return the next day to visit our Museum shipyard and galleries.
