Description

To create the City of Awesome series, Todd Berman collected self-portrait drawings from over 1000 people of all ages and backgrounds. He collaged these drawings into paintings of San Francisco to embody how the awesomeness of our city is formed by the creativity of its individuals. This project was selected to be included in the SF Muni Art program and was installed inside of ten city buses in 2015. Learn the techniques to use meaningful art as a community organizing tool for your community. After this first session, participants will gather ideas from the community at their site.

Session for any staff.

This is one of two sessions.

The Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) has administered San Francisco’s powerful investments in children, youth, transitional age youth, and their families through the Children and Youth Fund since 1991. With a deep commitment to advancing equity and healing trauma, we bring together government agencies, schools, and community-based organizations to strengthen our communities to lead full lives of opportunity and happiness. Together, we make San Francisco a great place to grow up.
