Celebrate the latest release from Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band, "Don't Look Down", at this live concert event! Funded through a massively successful Kickstarter campaign, the album is already getting attention for the groundbreaking arrangements, stellar vocals, and stunning solos.
The album features such guests as James Valentine of Maroon 5, Jeff Coffin of the Dave Matthews Band, Tom Politzer of Tower of Power, Branden Campbell of the Neon Trees, Ryan Innes, and several others.
Also joining us for an incredibly rare Utah performance is the evening's co-headliner, the legendary Youngblood Brass Band. The group flouts convention in an ecstatic, raucous, incendiary fashion, taking the form of a New Orleans brass band and morphing it into a punked-out hip-hop behemoth of groove and purpose. The ten-member ensemble, born in Madison, Wisconsin, now hails from all over the US (Madison, Brooklyn, Nashville, Minneapolis, Chicago) and has been unleashing their crash course in genre-bending on stages worldwide since 2000.
Opening the evening will be local favorites the Voodoo Orchestra, the Hooligans Brass Band, and The Inevitables.
When & Where
Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band
Organized in 2001 Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band has frequently been hailed as one of the best professional bands in the world to be comprised entirely of young musicians. With a youthful energy and nearly unbelievable performance level, the band has performed their hip, intelligent big band arrangements for thousands. While the ensemble has been featured at many of the world's most prominent music festivals, their crowning performance was a headlining debut at a packed Carnegie Hall in May of 2013. The band has also won nine "Best of State" awards for Utah, including seven consecutive years as Utah's "Best Professional Band" in any genre!
The Band has caught the attention of many of today's top artists as well. Since its inception the band has performed with over two hundred guest artists including Grammy-winners David Sanborn, Gordon Goodwin, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Eric Marienthal, Dave Weckl, Bob Mintzer, Ernie Watts, Peter Erskine, and Dave Samuels. And with frequent guest artists from groups like Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, Neon Trees, Journey, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Tower of Power, Journey, the Rolling Stones, and the Saturday Night Live Band, they obviously have fans in the industry, as well.
