CreativeMornings/Detroit: Lolita Hernandez May 3, 8:30am-10:00am
Lolita Hernandez's sensory style of writing interweaves Detroit culture, industrial themes and Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent heritage to create an emersion into a unique place in our landscape. Her poetry has been featured in several anthologies including Abandon Automobile: Detroit City Poetry 2001 and her book, Autopsy of an Engine and Other Stories from the Cadillac Plant has won a PEN Beyond Margins Award. A 2012 Kresge Arts in Detroit Literary Arts Fellow, she teaches in the Creative Writing Department of the University of Michigan Residential College.
She will be speaking to us on the CreativeMornings universal topic of Backwards.

CreativeMornings is a monthly morning gathering for creative types. Each event includes a 20 minute talk followed by a 20 minute group discussion. The gathering begins at 8:30am with the topic presentation starting at 9:00am with everyone taking off for work at 10:00am. CreativeMornings are free of charge!
There are chapters around the world including Zurich, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Detroit! The Detroit chapter is hosted by Detroit Creative Corridor Center team member Bethany Betzler.
