is a Chicago-based custom framing gallery and furniture-making studio that specializes in using reclaimed building material. They make frames
, media cabinets
, dining tables
, sofa tables
, night stands
, shelving units
, storage systems
- you can think it, they can build it
. And they use discarded materials, which means less waste in our landfills and a look that just cannot be replicated.
With over 10 years of custom framing experience and a passion for making things, owner Raun Meyn started his own line of salvaged wood frames and custom furniture in 2008 and called it FoundRe. His aesthetic and picker spirit led him directly to reclaimed building materials. FoundRe never faux finishes and instead they highlight the true story of every piece of wood that they work with.
You can find them in Chicago at FoundRe, RR#1, Foursided, and Hazel, or around the country at Found, Ann Arbor and Habit, and Brooklyn and even abroad in Luxad and Berlin. Most recently, FoundRe has taken on custom commercial projects at Antique Taco, Alliance Bakery and The Circle Salon. Their brick and mortar shop is located at 2151 W. Division
. Keep a look out for their expansion and remodeling project coming this spring.
In the spirit of our "Reuse" theme for this month, we're asking every attendee to bring at least one gently used book, CD or DVD to be donated to Open Books.
Everyone who donates will be entered in a raffle to win a one-of-a-kind handmade furnishing from our guest of honor, FoundRe
will be graciously hosting and sponsoring CreativeMornings in their cozy West Loop studio. Design Cloud is a collective of independent creatives who believe in a new way of working. Together, they share resources to build & thrive in a culture that allows their best work to be realized and embraces creative freedom. Their innovative loft space is the perfect combination of work and play – a studio and art gallery all in one.
