Creating Enlightened Society May 10th,11th,12th 2013
This three day event brings together two essential elements for a more compassionate, sustainable, and wise world - the personal and the social.
Often our approach to making this world a better place emphasizes either external, political, systemic, and economic issues on the one hand or internal, spiritual or psychological themes on the other. This event will intentionally unite these two aspects of social transformation and point out their inseparability.
We see social transformation as a fractal process in which the same patterns show up at all levels (like repeating patterns in nature: root systems, coral reefs, ferns, snowflakes etc.) and in which changes in one level affect all the others. Whether we are working with our own minds in a personal practice, with our families and personal relationships, with our communities and organizations, or with the meta-structures of society, the results of our activities propagate across the system. Bringing compassion and awareness into families and workplaces is also practicing social transformation.
Hosted by meditation teacher andShambhala Lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, speakers will include social change leaders such as the Episcopal Bishop of California Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus, meditation teacher at Google Chade-Meng Tan, angel Kyodo Williams, Acharya Adam Lobel, and others. Participants will explore how our engagement in our lives can deepen our personal experience and help bring about social transformation.
