Creating a Strong Sample Trailer
Wednesday, May 16, 2012, 6:30 - 8:30pm
Without a compelling sample, even the best film ideas will never be realized. A sample or trailer is your best opportunity to show funders your filmmaking skills and vision for your project before you have a completed film. You will leave this workshop with the tools and confidence you need to craft a strong, visually dynamic piece that complements your written proposal and will grab the attention of funders. We will screen successful trailers and analyze the elements that make them effective counterparts to a written proposal. We'll discuss what funders and broadcasters are looking for, what the optimal length for a trailer or sample should be and whether you should cover a single scene start to end or provide a condensed overview of the entire story narrative. Bring your questions and learn how to craft a piece that will move your film project forward.
