Tuesday, October 1, 2013
7:30 - 10:30AM - breakfast will be served
The Columbus Club at Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Ave. Washington, DC 20002
Exclusive Event featuring Representatives Loretta Sanchez and Mac Thornberry
This CQ Roll Call Forum will take a look at the future of America's military and the choices and tradeoffs Congress and the Pentagon may make as the military faces a shrinking budget. How different will the military look, which capabilities are likely to be emphasized and which will likely be deemphasized?
Questions to be explored will include:
- With pressure to cut defense budgets, how might the military be downsized and what changes would occur?
- Would a downsized military have to shed or reduce certain capabilities?
- With the impending end of combat in Afghanistan (and after the withdrawal from Iraq), how will military spending priorities change?
This morning event will gather Members of Congress, their staff, industry and association leaders and other key stakeholders together to examine the future of the military.
