Welcome to Coyote Spring. This year the Open Space Authority has a new Coyote Ridge adventure for you. We are opening up a brand new route in an undeveloped area. This is your chance to see beautiful bursts of native flowers next to lichen covered rocks on scenic hillsides. Parts of this trail are on an unmaintained historic rocky road. There is a gradual 400ft elevation gain over 1 mile for the hillside portion of this hike. For those who like steepness and want to hike to the top of the ridge, there is an additional 400ft elevation gain over a half mile up to the top of the ridge. The entire hike is a little over 3 miles long. Saturdays will be reserved for hillside hikes only and Sundays will offer the opportunity for both. Hikes begin at 9 am and may take until 2 pm to complete. If you would like to reserve a private weekday hike for your work or social group please contact Teri Rogoway at (408) 224-7476. Hikes will begin March 23 and go until the flowers dry up.
The attendance on this hike is limited by car parking spaces. In order to allow more people on this hike, carpooling is highly encouraged. Feel free to call us if you would like a suggestion for locations to meet.
Note: The meeting location for this hike is next to the entrance at the Kirby Canyon Landfill, not inside the landfill as we have done in the past. Once you are registered, we will send you directions and parking information.
