NEW ORLEANS, LA (April 7, 2014) – Two of New Orleans’ top women in business have joined forces to present Couture for a Cause – A Fashion Affair of the Heart to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). Entrepreneurs Tiffany D. Magee and Shirah Ray will host the event later this summer on June 12th at the popular special events venue and lounge, Eiffel Society.
In an effort to create an early buzz for the fashion show and raise additional funds for the non-profit, they have teamed up with Eiffel Society for their Pay-it-Forward series, a recurring happy hour event the space hosts to benefit various local charities and organizations. The Pay-it-Forward Happy Hour and Kick-off Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will serve as the official kick-off to the summer fashion show. Attendees are encouraged to support the cause as they mix and mingle with New Orleans area elite. Eiffel Society will donate 20% of bar sales to the AHA.
Well-known in the community for their philanthropic involvement, Magee and Ray are thrilled to lead these efforts for the AHA as the national organization has special meaning for them.
“We would love to raise at least $2,500 for the AHA,” stated Magee, “Both of our fathers died of heart attacks at a very early age.”
Magee is the CEO of Manager Extraordinaire, an event logistics and management company. The former state director of the Miss Black Louisiana USA pageant remains active in the community and is a board member of the Louisiana Center for Health Equity. She is also co-founder and president of BR Black Professionals.
Style is inherent to event co-organizer, Ray. Winner of the 2013 Millennial Award for Fashion, the personal wardrobe consultant and style therapist is the owner of David Lee’s Boutique, named for her late father. The high-end women’s clothing store is located at 1145 West Airline Highway in LaPlace.
Ray’s store will be providing the clothing and accessories showcased in the summer runway show. The event will also feature pieces from the latest collections of two up-and-coming Louisiana fashion designers.
"I'm proud to partner with an organization that's committed to saving lives. This is sentimental for both my family and me,” said Ray.
The ladies are excited to host the kick-off event and toast to its success at the Eiffel Tower Pay-it-Forward happy hour. Frencheeze food truck will be on hand with light bites and will also donate to the cause with 10% of all sales that evening going to the AHA.
Donations will be accepted during the happy hour and advance fashion show tickets will also be available. Guests who purchase advance tickets at the kick-off reception will be entered in a drawing to win a free two-hour limousine service.
Event organizers are also currently seeking corporate sponsors. To learn more about Couture for a Cause – A Fashion Affair of the Heart or to become a sponsor, contact Tiffany Magee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
