Monday- Magical Travels in Theatre
Mondays - ages: 4-6 years old – 3:20pm-4:20pm-$495 -September 22nd-December 1st.- No classes: 10/13 From the land of the dinosaurs to outer space, we adventure across enchanted worlds and even travel through time! Join us as we use theater to explore cultures and characters in history, science and nature. The last day of class is open to family and friends. With Child's Play NY, children explore story-telling, song and creative movement in classes for the youngest of thespians. Using their bodies, voices and minds, students re-interpret classic and contemporary children’s literature and are inspired to create their own adventures. Simple props and costumes help them bring their characters to life. Connections are made to literature and the world around them. Classes encourage creative expression and confidence. Child's Play NY teachers are professional actors with degrees in Theater and years of experience bringing their expertise to children.

Monday Jazz/Pop Singing
Mondays-ages: 7 & up- 3:20pm-4:20pm- $495 - September 22nd-December 1st. No classes: 10/13- This course will introduce students to the joy of singing jazz, America's indigenous musical form. We’ll start with the blues, which is the foundation of jazz (as well as rock and pop), developing rhythmic and melodic awareness through hand clapping and singing, then move ahead to well-known tunes like “Bye Bye Blackbird”, “I Got Rhythm” and “Swinging on a Star”(just to name a few) and other jazz and/or pop standards. If time allows, we may even compose a song together! The goal is to swing and have fun doing it!!! Much attention in this course is given to personal responsibility, listening skills, teamwork and community building. Instructor – Singer , pianist and percussionist Susan Pereira

Monday SocRoc
Mondays -Soccer for kids ages 6-9 years old – 3:20pm-4:20pm-$495 -September 22nd-December 1st.- No classes: 10/13 Students will learn how to play the “Beautiful Game” of Soccer . Emphasis is on building basic soccer skills,teamwork,sportsmanship,overall fitness and Fun!!. This is a physically active class so for kids who like to move this is an ideal activity. Small sided games 3v3, 4v4 will be a part of every class. SocRoc was developed by former Professional Soccer player and Certified Strength and conditioning specialist James Christie.

Monday Computer Programming
Mondays- ages: 6-7 - 3:20pm-4:20pm - $495- September 22nd-December 1st.- No classes: 10/13 Have a great idea for a video game? Want to create a story with characters that talk and move? Using the Scratch programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab, students will work with Corlears Educational Technology Specialist, Zach Brewer, to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art. As they create and share Scratch projects, students will learn important mathematical and computational concepts, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively. Tuesday Construction Kids
Tuesdays-ages: 4-6 year olds – 3:15 pm – 4:30 pm-$495 -September 23rd-November 25th- Construction Kids brings building with real tools to afterschool. Children will learn to safely use hammers, nails, hand saws, and a variety of construction materials to build creative wooden projects of each afternoon. We will sketch, discuss design elements, build, and decorate our constructions. Each day children bring home a built project. Like spending an afternoon in your grandfather's garage, (if he happened to be a carpenter), this is old-fashioned hands-on learning with contemporary creative values. Includes all materials and tools.

Tuesday Printmaking with Becky
Tuesday-ages: 6-10 year olds-3:15 pm - 4:30 pm- $495- September 23rd-November 25th-Stamping, mono printing and silk screen printing-In this class students will work with various drawing and stencil techniques and learn about several printmaking processes including stamping, mono printing and silkscreen printing. Self-expression will be encouraged and nurtured through student choice in the subject matter of their final image which we will be silkscreening onto t shirts! Once you enter the world of printmaking more and more possibilities for expression with materials open up and it is a lot of fun!

Tuesdays Tennis-The Butch Seewagon Tennis Academy
Tuesdays- ages: 5-8 year olds– 3:20 pm-4:20 pm- $540 - September 23rd-November 25th.- Directed by former US National Amateur Champion and former world Top 70 player, this program will use the USTA and the International Tennis Federation Guidelines. The lessons will focus on developing a child’s tennis skills on a size appropriate scale, utilizing smaller courts, low compression balls, and smaller rackets. Fun is the name of the game while we develop skills in a supportive environment.

Wednesday Latin American Cooking
Wednesday-ages 4-7-3:20 pm-4:20 pm-$495- September 24th-December 3rd-No classes:11/26- - Each week your child will discover a dish from one of the many Spanish speaking countries. They will help prepare it and taste it while exploring the culture surrounding it. ¡Buen provecho!

Wednesday ROCK 'N ROLL
Wednesday- ages: 10 years old- 3:20 pm -4:20 pm -$495- September 24th-December 3rd-No classes: 11/26 Class size is limited to 5 kids!! - Let’s get ready to jam!! Focus will be on basic rhythms, melody and accompaniment, song structure/composition, organization of parts on a new or current instrument including (but not limited to) guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and voice. Materials and equipment will be provided with the exception of guitars. You may bring your own guitar. Instructor – John Paul Norpoth

Wednesday SocRoc

Thursday Mythological Theatre
Thursday-ages:6-10 years-$495- 2:20 pm- 3:20 pm-October 2nd-December 11th- No classes: 9/25, 11/6, 11/27- Ever wonder what the snakes on Medusa’s head talk about? Ever seen an infomercial for Arachne’s loom? Do you know what you would do if you came face-to-face with a Minotaur? Well…wonder no more! In this dynamic acting class, classical mythology is our springboard for improv, dramatic play and text work. In addition to creating their own mythological characters, kids rehearse humorous and action-packed plays that are presented in a showcase to family and friends at the end of the semester. Thursday Rock Out! Song writing
Thursday- ages: 6-10 - 2:20pm-3:20pm - $495- October 2nd-December 18th-No classes: 9/25, 11/6, 11/27- Students will craft their own songs, record them, and perform them for family and friends! They will find their inner singer-songwriter in this dynamic and fun course where they will learn skills in basic musicianship, music performance, recording and story-telling. If you like singing, performing, creative writing and having lots of fun, this course is for you! Students only need to bring a pencil and paper. These classes are for Corlears families only. Registration will open Wednesday, August 6th.


Private music lessons are coordinated after school by Corlears Music Teacher, Suzy Schwartz.  Please contact at Suzys@corlearsschool.org.  Available are flute, trumpet, piano, recorder, violin, cello, bass and guitar.


Financial aid is available for current Corlears Families. Please contact Anita Haber by email at anitah@corlearsschool.org. Please also email stephanies@corlearsschool.org so that we can reserve a spot before it fills up.
