In partnership with the YMCA, the library is pleased to offer Cooking Matters, a six-week nutritional education program that fights hunger by teaching families how to make healthy food choices on a budget. Participants will learn how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in ways that provide the best possible nourishment to their families. Participants will assist in food preparation during class. Cooking matters provides recipes, books and handouts as well as a bag of groceries containing the ingredients of the day's lesson. Participants are expected to attend all the classes of the six-week course. One of the classes will be held at a local supermarket. Class is limited to 15 participants and registration is required. You must have a Grand Rapids Public Library card to participate. After you register, a full application will be mailed to you.
