Our Food Book Fair weekend will conclude with a "cooking by the book" dinner inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, held at the newly opened Parish Hall on Sunday, May 6th at 8pm.
Parish Hall’s Owner George Weld and Chef Evan Hanczor have conceptualized a four-course dining experience evoking travel, writing and – of course – drinking. The collective literary pursuits of the team at Parish Hall will be bringing the landscape of Hemingway’s novel to life in present day Brooklyn through the lens of Chef Hanczor’s regional northeast cuisine.
The menu will cover re-creations of dishes and more loosely connected items inspired by culinary musings in the book such as an homage to Jake Barnes roast chicken dinner in Paris, apple pie with cheese, and a dish reimagined from a fishing scene in Spain.
The dinner will feature beer from Brooklyn Brewery and wine selections by Parish Hall’s Matt Callahan.
Tickets are $150 per person benefiting PS 84 Greenhouse Classroom.
Parish Hall is located at 109A North 3rd Street (between Berry & Wythe) in Brooklyn, NY.
