Referencing oceanography, the convergence line is the point in the ocean where tidal forces meet. For this special event to accompany the group exhibition Electronic Pacific, the audience gathers in the gallery among the art to witness the convergence of punk rock and electronic music forces from around the Pacific Rim. Performing artists are based in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose, California and Jakarta, Indonesia, and one of four performances is experienced through the aid of live-streamed projection on the gallery wall.
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
7–7:30pm Beige (Kent Long and Vanessa O’Neill) offers an on-site ambient film & music performance; click here to watch a video of a past performance by Beige
7:30–8pm Mexican American punk band Desmadre En Krisis performs on-site; click here to watch a video of a past performance by Desmadre En Krisis
8–8:30pm Iman Fattah’s experimental sonic performance is live-streamed from Jakarta onto the gallery wall
As part of an ongoing partnership between SOMArts and Bay Area Video Coalition, the entire event will be broadcast live on San Francisco’s public access station SF Commons (Comcast Channel 76, Astound Channel 30) and will stream online here.
