AnMed Health and the SC Asthma Alliance bring "Controlling Asthma in Upstate SC" to Anderson – April 10 and 11, 2014.

Did you know that in South Carolina:

  • Over 293,000 adults and more than 90,000 children suffer from asthma in South Carolina.
  • Asthma and related conditions were the leading cause of children's hospitalizations in 2012, with over 3,200 admissions. The second leading cause, pneumonia, is diagnosed more frequently in children with asthma.
  • Over 55,000 ER visits were due to asthma during 2010-2012.
  • Asthma prevalence rate is highest among those under 18 years old, and is the most common chronic disease and leading cause of disability among children. (Bureau of Community Health and Chronic Disease Prevention, SC DHEC)
