Start Small Think Big

Start Small Think Big (Start Small) is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization established in 2010 and located in the South Bronx, the poorest Congressional District in the nation. Start Small targets entrepreneurs and small business owners who either live in or sell goods or services in underserved New York City communities who possess the fundamental building blocks to create and sustain viable businesses but lack the resources to afford or otherwise access professional legal and financial expertise. Start Small fills this gap by providing free professional legal and financial services in order to help our clients build and sustain thriving businesses so that they will increase their personal financial security and stimulate economic activity in underserved New York City communities.

Through partnerships with over 90 top-tier law firms and corporations, non-profit organizations, and the government, including 30 of the largest and most respected law firms and law clinics in New York City, Start Small engages hundreds of highly skilled legal and financial volunteers each year. Collectively, our volunteers provide countless hours of one-on-one legal and financial services to hundreds of entrepreneurs and small business owners who could not otherwise afford or access them. Start Small's legal clients receive an average of approximately 25 hours of pro bono legal assistance each, which services are valued at an average of nearly $16,500 per client.
