Event Details

Register here and be one of the lucky ones to win a spot to see the historic landing of the solar airplane in New York City! If you want to come with someone, please choose 2 for the quantity and register this person as well. Fifty registrations will be drawn at random from those that have register here. Winners will have to come to JFK by their own means by midnight the night of the flight.

Please note that the flight has not been confirmed yet and could be subject to change depending on the weather forecast. There are strong chances that it will take place this coming Friday, July 5th, or Saturday, July 6th

The event will be organized as follows:

  • 12:00 a.m. EDT — Arrival at JFK by your own means. Directions will be provided to the winners.
  • 01:00 a.m. — Guests will be escorted to a secure location at the airfield to view the landing.
  • 02:00 a.m. — Solar Impulse is expected to land at JFK (the plane is visible at night thanks to LED landing lights along its 208-foot (63m) wingspan).
  • 02:15-02:30 a.m. — Guests will be allowed to get close to the Solar Impulse aircraft and take photos during the pilot’s disembarkation.
  • 02:30 a.m. — Guests will be escorted to the Solar Impulse hangar and will get a chance to hear pilot remarks.
  • 03:00 a.m. — Guests will be escorted back to the exit.

By going beyond the question of energy, Solar Impulse would also like to encourage each and every one of us to become pioneers in our own lives, in our ways of thinking and behaving.

We demonstrated that a solar powered airplane can fly day and night without fuel. The challenge is now to fly around the world in 2015.
