Share Content 2.0: Creating Share-Worthy Content | December Class

Class Outline

In this two-hour class, you will learn how to create compelling content to share across your company's social profiles. This class is designed for business professionals with at least a basic understanding of how social networks work.

First, we'll discuss what makes great content. We'll look at several examples of businesses, both B2C and B2B, which share content that is both engaging and converts followers into customers. The kinds of content we'll focus on include:

  • Blog posts
  • White papers
  • Photos
  • Podcasts
  • Videos

Next, we will focus on creating a content strategy for your business. In this strategy, you will decide:

  • Which audiences to target and what kinds of content interest them
  • What content you already own that you can repurpose for sharing online
  • Who will create new content that you can share online
  • How to include calls to action in each piece of content you share
  • How to use your content to capture the contact information of your potential new customers
Finally, we will talk about how to design an editorial process for your business. You will learn how to:
 
  • Evaluate how much time and resources each piece of content takes to create
  • Use Google news alerts, Google Reader and Google Trends to stay updated on news and trends related to your business that could make good content
  • Create an editorial calendar to plot out your content
  • Use a social media dashboard to manage how you share your content and analyze its impact
 
By the end of the class, you will have designed a preliminary content strategy and editorial process for your business.

A light breakfast will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m. Class will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. sharp.

Handouts will be provided. You do not need to bring a laptop unless you want to use it to take notes.

One ticket for each of our classes is $175 per person. If you purchase two or more tickets for any class, the price of each ticket is reduced to $150.

About Our Instructor

Tracy Samantha Schmidt is the director Crain's Social Media Group, a new division of Crain Communications. Social media has been central to her career in both the media and higher education.

As a reporter at Time Magazine, she covered a range of topics--including the rise of social media. She joined the Chicago Tribune in 2008 and co-created ChicagoNow, now one of Chicago's largest websites. Meanwhile, she taught several graduate-level classes on social media at DePaul University.

Those classes became the foundation for a nationwide social media education program Tracy created at Tribune in 2011. To date, more than 5,000 people have participated in that program. 

Tracy has also presented private seminars for organizations including JP Morgan Chase, the National Association of Realtors and the National Assocation of Broadcasters.
