About Domaine Albert Bichot, Burgundy France:
The wine-trading company "Albert Bichot" was founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot (1750-1850) in Meursault. His son Hyppolyte Bichot (1831-1908) donated Volnay Cuvée Blondeau the vineyard to the Hospices de Beaune, the wine will be auctioned today. In the third generation enlarged Albert Bichot I. (1870-1952) the ownership through the purchase of several small commercial buildings. He moved the headquarters from the wineries and Meursault to Beaune. The company became the largest exporter in the wake of Burgundy wines. Today it is managed by the fifth generation of Alberic Bichot (b. 1964). The company acts as a negociant éleveur, that is, there are grapes purchased from growers and contract markets the wines vinified them under his own name. In addition, acts as Bichot Vigneron (winemakers) and is owned by four renowned wine estates in Burgundy with 100 hectares of vines: * Domaine Adélie (Mercurey) with 4.2 ha * Domaine du Clos Frantin (Nuits-Saint-Georges) with 13 ha * Domaine Long Depaquit (Chablis) with 65 acres - 1791 * founded Domaine du Pavillon (Pommard) with 17 hectares of the whites three weeks refrigerated fermented in tanks in order to preserve the fruitiness. For the reds, the grapes are intact ever mashing fermented for three weeks. For aging in oak barrels and used barrels from Allier Tronçais. The extensive product range includes wines from many famous Burgundian towns with famous Grands Crus (after the church in parenthesis) and Premiers Crus. These are, for example Aloxe-Corton (Les Languettes, Clos des Maréchaudes, Corton-Charlemagne), Chablis (Les Blanchot, Bougros, Les Clos, La Moutonne, Les Preuses, Les Vaudésirs), Chambolle-Musigny, Beaune, Burgundy (Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux), Gevrey-Chambertin (Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin), Mercurey, Meursault, Monthélie, Morey-Saint-Denis, Montrachet (Bâtard-Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, Montrachet), Nuits-Saint- Georges, Pommard, Volnay, Vosne-Romanée (Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant) and Vougeot (Clos de Vougeot).
