Whether you're conducting research for a well established product/service or a startup that hasn't fully penetrated the market yet, you're going to have to talk to past, current and potential customers, so you might as well use that time effectively.
5:30 - 7:00 PM: Introductions and defining the problem you want to solve
7:00 - 7:30 PM: Planing your research and defining who you want to talk to
7:30 - 7:45 PM: Pizza Break
7:45 - 9:30 PM: Writing the interview script and conducting the actual interview
1. Learn how to write a screener that enables you to recruit the right type of people to interview
2. Learn how to write questions that really get at the data you want to know
3. Practice conducting an actual interview to see where you can improve upon your skills
Who should attend this workshop? Founders, Product Marketers, UX Designers and Community Managers who want to interview people to gain a deeper understanding of their motivations, values, needs and behaviors. Once you understand your users - or potential users - you can build better products and know how marketing messages will resonate with them most.
Diane Loviglio is the CEO & Co-Founder of Share Some Style. She is also a Resident Mentor at 500 Startups. She was the first qualitative User Experience Researcher at Mozilla and prior to Mozilla, she co-founded the first conference to focus on tech failures, FailCon, and co-founded a clean tech startup, Wattbot. She also freelanced as a user researcher for technology, consumer web and healthcare startups such as Authentic8, Bombfell, Bump, Cisco, Dividely, Foodspotting, Giftly, Sanofi-Aventis, Splunk, The Freelancers Union and VMware.
