Concussion Assessment and Management in Adolescents
Timothy McManus, Psy. D., ABPP-RP, ABN, Adjunct Staff, Psychological and Neuropsychological Clinical Consultant with Ingalls Memorial Hospital and Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University is our guest speaker.
The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the symptoms and treatment of concussion,
including the management of post concussion symptoms at home, school and work
as well as identification of the appropriate time for return to normal activities.Desired
results include enabling physicians to know and understand guidelines and
recommendations for the management of concussion and to apply them to their own
practice, ultimately improving patient care and enhancing patient outcomes.
At the conclusion of this learning activity, the participant should be able to:
1. List symptoms of concussion.
2. Identify two strategies of concussion management at home and school.
3. Identify when return to normal activities (e.g. play, driving) is appropriate.
